Senior Pastor - Ed Moore

I was born and raised in Chile, South America. As my missionary parents' "helper," I have been involved in church ministry all of my life. After I graduated from high school in Chile, I started College in Ventura, CA, to brush up on my English and the American schooling system. I then transferred to UCLA, where I was a member of Alpha Gamma Omega Fraternity, the Christian fraternity on campus. I received Jesus Christ as my Savior as a young child, but it was at UCLA that I yielded my life and future to the will of God--allowing God to replace my desire to go into medicine with His desire that I go into ministry.

Following my graduation from UCLA in 1969, I spent a year in Chile helping and preaching in the rural communities of the Central Andes Mountain Region. I returned to the States to prepare for ministry at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. During my years at TEDS, I also taught Spanish at Trinity College. I graduated from TEDS with the Master of Divinity degree in 1975; and in 1982 I graduated from Talbot Seminary with the Doctor of Ministry degree.

My wife Pat and I were married in 1970, shortly after she returned from a tour of duty in Vietnam as an Army Nurse. We have two married children and four grandchildren. We love being grandparents!

I was called to the Cayucos Community Evangelical Free Church, on the Central Coast of CA, in August 1975. I served a wonderful church family that "broke in a new pastor without breaking the pastor"! After five years, I was not ready to leave. However, God showed the church family and me that I should accept the call to be the first pastor of a 9-month-old church plant meeting in Newark, CA. My family and I were sad to leave Cayucos, but excited about this new ministry before us. We arrived at Newark Evangelical Free Church in February 1981. The church has since changed names to Newark Community Church, still affiliated with the EFCA.

God has gifted me with a Shepherd's heart. I have always enjoyed being a Pastor. I love people, ministry, teaching and preaching! Coming to the States as a "foreigner," (who doesn't look foreign), I enjoy interacting with all people, and eating ethnic foods. The foundation of my ministry is the biblical truth that God created all people in His image and likeness, and that Jesus died for all people--to bring us into a right relationship with God, and into the Church family. I believe that we are all sinners and in need of help. All of us need Jesus Christ as Savior for the forgiveness of sins, and as the One who died and resurrected in order to destroy the works of the devil: the sin and the baggage of our past. The Church, therefore, is a hospital for sinners, not a museum for saints. We are God's family united in Jesus Christ, our Savior, and motivated to grow and change into the likeness of Jesus Christ, the Head of the Church, in the power of the Holy Spirit living in every believer.

I invite you to visit our church ministry!
